Most of our guests travel to Assisi, Italy on their own, and many are solo travelers. Our dedicated staff is here to help with your travel questions and make planning your journey as simple as possible.
Travel to Assisi
Flying Internationally
Most international guests fly into Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO). From Rome, you can travel to Assisi by train or arrange a private car or van transfer. The journey generally takes approximately 2–3 hours, depending on your mode of transportation and connections.
By Train from Rome
Train travel is a comfortable and economical way to reach Assisi. From Fiumicino Airport, you’ll travel by train through Rome and continue on to Assisi Station, located in the valley below the historic center.
From Assisi Station, it is approximately a 10-minute taxi or bus ride up the hill into town.
If you are arriving in Rome on the first day of your retreat, we recommend scheduling your flight to arrive by late morning so you have plenty of time to make your way to Assisi without rushing.
Private Airport Transfer
For guests who prefer a simpler door-to-door journey, we can connect you with a trusted private driver for transportation directly from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Assisi. Advance reservations are recommended.
Flying Within Europe
The nearest airport is Perugia San Francesco d’Assisi Airport (PEG), approximately 20 minutes from Assisi by taxi. This small regional airport serves a selection of European destinations. If you are arriving through Perugia, let us know and we can help you arrange transportation.

Frequently Asked Questions
When does the retreat start and when does it end ?
Each retreat is six days and five nights. Retreats begin at 4:30 pm on the first day, and we recommend arriving in Assisi by 2:00 pm to allow plenty of time to settle in. You are also welcome to arrive a day or two early, and we can help arrange additional nights at the hotel. The retreat concludes after our final morning meditation and closing, at approximately 10:00 am on the last day.
Can I arrive a day or two earlier or stay later ?
Absolutely. Many guests enjoy arriving a day or two early to recover from travel and settle into Assisi, or staying afterward to enjoy more time in the town. During registration, you can let us know your preferred arrival and departure dates, and we can arrange the additional nights with the hotel for you. You’ll pay the hotel directly for your extra nights.
Does each bedroom have a bathroom ? Heat or AC in rooms ?
Yes each bedroom has its own bathroom inside the room, as well as heating and air conditioning.
Can you provide gluten free, vegetarian, or vegan options?
Yes. Simply tell the waitstaff at your first meal and they will prepare the correct diet for you.
What type of meditation is offered? If I am a beginner is this right for me ?
No previous meditation experience is needed. Our retreats include simple heart-centered meditation practices that invite you to become quiet, present, and receptive to the peace within and around you. Experienced meditators are equally welcome. Learn more about Heartfulness Meditation →
What sites do we visit, and how long are the walks ?
We visit many of Assisi’s sacred and historic sites, including the Basilica of Saint Francis, San Damiano, and the Eremo delle Carceri. Most of our walks are gentle and take approximately 20–30 minutes, with a few longer walks of up to 1–1½ hours. For guests who prefer not to walk, complimentary taxi transportation is available.
Do I need to be Catholic or follow a particular faith?
No - our retreats are interfaith and non-denominational, welcoming people of all faiths, spiritual traditions, and backgrounds. Assisi has drawn pilgrims from around the world who come to experience its extraordinary atmosphere of peace. Guests who are Catholic will also find many opportunities to attend Mass in Assisi’s churches and chapels.
How can I prepare for the retreat ?
Your retreat can begin now. What is your cancellation policy?
A €550 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your place, with the remaining balance due six weeks before the retreat begins. All retreat payments are non-refundable and non-transferable, so we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers your retreat costs in case your plans unexpectedly change.
