We meditated on the light within that is so much more powerful than the “enemy”, or the negative or habitual thoughts that seem to besiege us at times. All we need to do is befriend this light, and believe in its potency. I suddenly was resting in the power of an inner radiance, and the thoughts that I used to think were so threatening to my peace, seemed to dissolve in this greater light. During our Assisi pilgrimages, the episodes of the lives of St. Claire and St. Francis provide stepping-stones into our own awareness, inspiring us to find the Truth inside, just as they did.

We all have these inner sound and light which we can easily manifest if we will only learn how to quiet ourselves in the middle of all the unnecessary noise of the material universe. We might have the wrong notion that we maybe more advanced souls if we are always in touch with things normal people would barely give a flying care about. We thought if we deny ourselves great food or good company, then it is the right thing. Everything you see around you is a gift. Everything should be appreciated. It's the secret to attracting a simple but abundant life. That burger as long as it's vegan should be yours for the taking.

Mood altering substances make it very difficult for people with depression and anxiety to function and it can aggravate their already crippling condition. While it is very difficult to establish what could be the reason for this, it is evident that most episodes or relapses are triggered by unique individual stressors. What is stressful for one maybe relaxing for another. Meditation can help clear their heads. No one should underestimate the healing power of silence. Caffeine and downers must be avoided at all costs because we can't risk that much noise inside our heads whice is impossible to shake off.
